Sammanfattning: All cops are bastards, at least according to some youths in Malmö. Research shows that there is an overall trust in the Swedish Police amongst citizens, including youths. We therefore questioned ourselves why these juveniles are of another opinion. The purpose of this study is to understand how juveniles with criminal background, experience the communication and treatment when they meet the police. This with background of the police values and quest towards citizens. To reach this purpose we interviewed youths where they told us about their experience of the police attitude towards them. The result of our study shows that these youths overall impression is mostly negative. They describe situations that are not near to the approach which the police want to express as an authority, nor fulfill the values in their goals towards the people. With Habermas communication theory, we try to understand the interaction between the police and these youths. Our conclusion is that the communication between the police and these youths could be improved through dialogue and mutual understanding for each other. To work towards their goals and values the police need to understand these youths and treat them with respect by comprehending how their attitude affect these youths idea of the police.
