Sammanfattning: The purpose of this paper is to examine the experience of Bosnian girls being raised in two different cultures at once: the Bosnian and the Swedish. I conducted qualitative interviews with five Bosnian-born girls between the ages of 14 and 19. All of these girls have moved to Sweden due to the war in Bosnia. The central interview questions were: what differences they saw between the Swedish and the Bosnian raising, which culture they identified themselves with and what view they had on their raising. Less freedom and greater respect for parents differed the Bosnian raising from the Swedish, according to the persons interviewed. Two of the persons interviewed identified themselves as individuals solely. The other three identified themselves as: Swede, Bosnian, both Swede and Bosnian. All of the girls were generally content with their raising and did not want to contrast their parents.
