Sammanfattning: This thesis examines the narrative of estrangement in Theodor Kallifatides autobiography Ett nytt land utanför mitt fönster. He presents his thoughts on an estrangement that comes with having to move to a new country and learn a new language. The autobiographical text, which constitutes the primary research material, is analytically scrutinized via a thematic narrative analysis. In other words, this paper aims to thematically discuss the author's accounts of self-recreation in Sweden as well as his adaption to the Swedish culture as it is manifested in the autobiography. This is carried out mainly from the author’s perspective but also with the help of other relevant sources of theoretical character.
