Utveckling av gatumiljön : En framtid för Stockholm & Rehnsgatan
Sammanfattning: The function of a street encompasses more than just the transport of people and products. The space as well as the way it is used affects us in more ways than we think. Most streetstoday are built with cars and motor driven vehicles in the forefront but perhaps this does notneed to be the case. There exists room for change within a city’s infrastructure, publictransport, design and function in order to improve effectiveness, climate, economy andhealth. In this thesis we explore urban planning, streets, public (and private) transport, the builtenvironment and their potential for improvement, as well how we as people both affect andare affected by these factors. The topics which are discussed in the literature review include:Self-driven vehicles in their various forms, the density of cities, parking spaces, carpooling, public transport, and home offices. The thesis has Stockholm’s city as the main focal point, including a flow study, survey study, interview and a CAD-model. The flow study along with the survey study was done onRehnsgatan in the city center and later used as a reference for the CAD-design of the streetin Revit. The results of our studies show that the current functions of the street and the relative spacein which cars and pedestrians occupy do not correspond with the frequency of use. In otherwords, there is a misallocation of space in relation to their current use. It is also apparentthat pedestrians are unsatisfied with the amount of greenery, lighting, open-air cafés, seatingand spaces for activities. The 3D-modell represents an amalgamation of our findings fromour studies and attempts to realistically depict how Rehnsgatan (and streets in general)could look like in the near future.
