En studie av företags ansvar i avseende förverkligandet av mänskliga rättigheter utifrån Kimberley processen och Dodd Frank Act sektion 1502

Sammanfattning: A substantial part of the population on the African continent suffers massive human rights crimes. Torture, murder, enslavement and systematic rape of civilians occur on a daily basis in several African countries. The international trade of natural resources from Africa, such as diamonds and other minerals, finances violence and immense human rights violations. The purpose of this study is to examine the responsibilities of companies in the realization of human rights from two international agreements, Dodd Frank Act Section 1502 and the Kimberley process. These include different requirements and they put different emphasis on the role of corporations in human rights issue, because of this, it is interesting to study them in a comparative analysis to clarify and answer the question of whether firms have any liability to fulfill or realize human rights and what requirements they impose on corporate social responsibility. The study concludes that the Dodd Frank Act Section 1502 and the Kimberley Process requires responsibility of companies in regard to realize and fulfill the requirements of the Act and the resolution implies. These requirements are beneficial to the realization of human rights. The study highlights that increased corporate responsibility is facilitated by internationally recognized consensus on corporate social responsibility concept.
