Kom spring på gömda stigarna i skogen - ett rekonstruktionsförslag av Orangeriberget på Gunnebo Slott, med pedagogisk inriktning

Sammanfattning: This is an essay about a part of the English landscape garden at Gunnebo house in Mölndal municipality. The facility was bought 1778 by one of Sweden’s richest men, John Hall senior (1735-1802) and his family. The city architect of Gothenburg, Carl Wilhelm Carlberg (1746-1814) designed every part of the manor: the main house, the outbuildings, the gardens, and even the furnishings. Gunnebo’s garden consists of three parts: a formal garden, kitchen gardens and an English landscape park. The main house and the formal garden are designed by a neoclassicistic design, but the English landscape garden is a hallmark from the romantical era, which spread through Europe during this time. An English landscape garden can be described as a manmade nature, based on the English rolling landscape. This kind of park had to be designed to imitate the original ideal with hills, groves, and flowering meadows. The constructed garden paths were made to take the gentry for an adventure walk, with surprises and astonishing views. The English landscape park at Gunnebo House has for a long time been forgotten. Unlike the other gardens there are no original schematics of the park which make it more difficult to restore. My purpose with this essay is to make a proposal for reconstruction of one particularly forgotten part of the park, called The Orangery Hill, with focus on pedagogical aspects for teenagers and children. With help from maps, literature, historical pictures, and a field survey have I given a reconstruction proposal that concludes renovation, new plant material and examples of statues and pedagogical activities.
