Användningen av matriser i historieundervisningen : Semistrukturerad intervjumetod med lärare och elever
Sammanfattning: The purpose of this study was to research how teachers and students in a total of two schools believe that working with matrices works in history teaching. The survey method was through semi-structured interviews with a total of six teachers and twelve students distributed in these two upper secondary schools. By interviewing people who are active in the environment, I am considered to gain deeper insights into how successful working with matrices is. Method for interpreting the answers from the interviews was the hermeneutic interpretation method which is a scientific orientation where the researcher searches for meaningful phenomena and where interpretation is the main method. This means that I can understand better the patterns in the material and by using this method I have to justify the interpretation of the whole work through the parts of the work, the hermeneutic circle. In the survey, it has emerged that teachers have not received training in how they can use matrices formatively in their teaching, or how they can work with complementary tools together with matrices. All teachers use matrices in some way in their history teaching, even if there is some variation. Some teachers use the education’s matrix from Skolverket and half of the interviewed teachers create their own matrices. The students have judged that matrices are an aid for them in school work, and that it works to support their learning. The negative that emerges in the study was that "matrix as it is written, is difficult to understand". A couple of students thought that it was easier for them to simply ask their teachers what they need to do to achieve their goal. The survey has revealed that the students did not work with peer assessment or self-assessment together with the matrices, which according to the previous research can be supportive and that the students more easily can understand the basics of grading by using these tools.
