En analys av essäistiskt modus i Kristian Petris essäfilm Hotellet: Ett bidrag till studiet om ett essäistiskt modus

Sammanfattning: The central issue discussed in this thesis is the “essayistic mode”, which is usually described as a set of themes and characterization of the traditional written essay. In our more digitalized world today, it has been argued that some of these essayistic traits could be identified in other types of media, for example in essay films. Since the beginning of the 1990th century the capacity of essay films has grown, and today they are considered as an own genre. With the heritage from the traditional written form, the essays have transformed into another medium. This is where we can identify the essayistic mode and also how these specific traits of the traditional essay are carried over into other types of media. This also creates a connection between different media forms, which is interesting to study in a perspective inspired by the intermedial field. This is why this thesis has aimed to analyze the essayistic mode in the Swedish essay film Hotellet.
