Den stora daldansen : En studie om historiens betydelse och historiebruk i samband med upproret 1743 och i senare tid

Sammanfattning: This study seeks to examine the use of history and its importance in combination with the peasant rebellion that originated in the province of Dalarna in 1743. By studying dissertations and other forms of literature that cover the rebellion I will categorize the use of history based on Karlsson’s and Zanders’s typology and analyze how Dalarna’s social and economic structure can be of importance in understanding why this province was in the forefront of the rebellion. The study will also discuss the use of the peasant rebellion in various situations in more recent times.  The results show that the peasant rebellion may fit into several types of history usage from Karlsson’s and Zanders’s typology depending on who the users are and what purpose it serves and that Dalarna’s social and economic structure that has been formed throughout history plays a certain role in the rebellion.
