Sammanfattning: The aim of this study is to investigate the Arctic Council and its commitments. Basic elements of that contains of which values it represents in the council’s practices of work. This explicitly by examine the possibilities to protect the Arctic. The study starts with a review of applied theories, containing of the discourse developed by Norman Fairclough, Cultural political economy and its foundations that is being taken into account in a contextual matter. This is taken in approach of globalization. The methodology of the thesis includes Norman Fairclough’s critical discourse analysis, or common referred as CDA, and supplemented with a method for transcription. Through the critical discourse analysis, five publications were used. The specific intention is divided by the Arctic Council’s declarations, document of vision and a video that explain the council’s practices itself. The common producer of these documents is the Arctic Council. The critical discourse analysis found three major different discourses in connection with the reading of the publications. These are: globalism, the relation of ‘actor’ and ‘objects’ and security. During the progression of the study, it could be found that it’s a matter of instituionalism are apparent, due to its ambition of become a “policy-maker”.
