Korrektion av implicit ingruppsfavorisering och utgruppshostilitet

Sammanfattning: The aim of the study was to investigate correction regarding ingroup favoritism and outgroup hostility on an implicit level. Current research revealed that people tend to make amendments for ingroup bias in the presence of an outgroup member. In order to test correction of bias implicitly, the participants received false feedback regarding their test results on an implicit test that measured racial bias. One group received false feedback about showing ingroup favoritism towards Swedes, and one group received false feedback about showing outgroup hostility towards Arabs. The reason for using two different kinds of feedback was to investigate if the participants were able to distinguish between ingroup favoritism and ourgroup hostility. The predictions were that participants who received false feedback regarding ingroup favoritism should correct for ingroup bias and the group that received feedback regarding outgroup hostility should correct for outgroup bias, but the results did not support the hypothesizes. However, the results revealed that individuals that were externally motivated to control for prejudice did correct for outgroup hostility. The results are discussed in the light of previous research.
