Arbetsberedningar i byggproduktion : En utredning av samarbetet och kommunikationen mellan produktionsledning och yrkesarbetare

Sammanfattning: Purpose: The complexity of the construction industry and lack of repeated patterns complicates the efficiency of work execution. The working method of the construction site is a significant factor for the low productivity. It has been emerged that the occupational workers only use 40-60% of their full potential and the productivity could increase with 40% by increasing the involvement of them. Work preparation is a planning tool for the future work with aim to ensure a safer and more efficient achievement of the work execution. Inadequate communication, collaboration, planning and prioritization leads to a lack of use of work preparations in the industry. The aim of the study is to investigate the collaboration and communication between production management and occupational workers during the execution of work preparations and to present improvement suggestions for the execution of work preparations. Method: A qualitative case study on three different building projects has been carried out. The methodology was semi-structured interviews with production management, occupational workers and a person from the organization. A document analyse was performed to study what the organization is assisting with, as well as a literature study to gain knowledge from previous research. Findings: The identified deficiency was that work preparations rarely are produced together during meetings. The identified underlaying causes for this, is a lack of knowledge and basis, how written and jointly developed work preparations should be carried out. It is unclear how to implement it and too few tools. Due to the lack of knowledge and lack of time, the time required for a good work preparation is not set aside. Implications: A work preparation is a good tool to increase the productivity and safety during the execution of the work. To increase the priority of jointly developed work preparations, the production management and the occupational workers must understand the value of them and take time to sit down together and produce them. The organization needs to assist with an explanatory text document regarding work preparations and give clearer guidelines for how the production management should work with them. This would lead to a reduction of ignorance and uncertainties regarding the execution of work preparations. Limitations: The time of the study forms the basis of the limitations. The survey is limited to one company, where interviews have been done at three projects. Despite this limitation, the result is transferable to organizations of similar size with projects of similar scope. The work did not aim to change the purpose of the work preparation.
