A Grindr in real life? En kvalitativ studie om konstruktionen av icke-heterosexuella rum för män

Detta är en Kandidat-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Genusvetenskapliga institutionen

Sammanfattning: How are non-heterosexual spaces for men constructed and how can we understand them? What purpose do they fill? Where does non-heterosexual men go looking to find other nonheterosexual men? This Bachelor thesis in Gender Studies explore the answers to these questions. Inspired by ’’Såna på Amerikabåtarna’’ a sociological study by Arne Nilsson the research of this thesis is drawing on four qualitative interviews with non-heterosexual men. The thesis concludes that non-heterosexual spaces for men are constructed in motion and that they not necessarily have to be understood as places that have to be physical or stable. Online dating applications like grindr and tinder are frequently mentioned in the material as important spaces for their sexuality although there is a lot of ambivalence connected to these certain types of spaces. A theme about non-heterosexual men not feeling queer enough to take part in queer spaces but hesitant towards feeling secure with grindr is frequently presented as well. The thesis also concludes the importance of friendships with other women and people identifying as queer for non-heterosexual men as well as feeling ambivalent towards friendship relations with other men and feeling ambivalence towards masculinity.
