En bortglömd konflikt? En komparativ fallstudie på konflikten i Centralafrikanska republiken

Detta är en L2-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Statsvetenskapliga institutionen

Sammanfattning: Why do we see some conflicts more than others? In this thesis we examine if and why the conflict in Central African Republic has been a forgotten conflict. It is a comparative case study where the conflict in Mali serves as the contrast in order to portray and prove that the conflict in Central African Republic is more forgotten than others. We conduct our own examination by using a Swedish media archive and searching this to find news related to the conflict in Central African Republic. By doing so we confirm that it per se has been a forgotten conflict. To find out why, different theories are applied to the situation in Central African Republic. This ultimately leads us to the finding that the lack of geopolitical interest, internet access, social identity and altruism, together with not valuing news from Central African Republic as news worthy, are factors that can explain why it has been a forgotten conflict in Sweden.
