#Kriskommunikation : En kvalitativ studie om nationell och regional kriskommunikation till unga på sociala medier

Sammanfattning: The study analyzes national and regional crisis communication to youth in the beginning of the Coronavirus pandemic. As early research has shown difficulties in reaching the target group youth, and in a constantly changing society, adaption is necessary in the communication towards the target group. About 83 percent of all internet users in Sweden use social media and among youth this number is even higher (Internetstiftelsen, 2019). The study uses theories in crisis communication and social media as well as early research about government’s crisis communication with children and youth online. It contains a qualitative text analysis where a semiotic and rhetoric method has been used to analyze a total of twelve Instagram posts from Krisinformation.se and Region Stockholm. The purpose of the study is to find out what messages are communicated and how these messages are adapted to youth as a target group – which includes children, youth and young adults. The result shows that both Krisinformation.se and Region Stockholm has communicated messages that, in different ways, has encouraged the receiver to follow the counsel given, to hinder the spread of the Covid-19 virus or in any way help those that have been affected by the Coronavirus pandemic. The analysis further shows that Krisinformation.se has crisis communication with messages and content that is better adapted to youth compared to Region Stockholm. It is mainly based on the preference that youth themselves have expressed – to prioritize form and graphic before content (Henningson, 2010:61). As for the rest both organizations have followed a lot of the advice given in the theories and therefore have, in many different ways, a successful crisis communication on social media. The problem is not an absence of presence on social media, but rather the use of them, in order to reach the target group youth – where their needs need to be in focus.
