Ungdomars upplevelse av livstillfredsställelse och psykisk ohälsa: En korrelationsstudie
Sammanfattning: This study aimed to examine relationships of five aspects of life satisfaction (family, friends, neighborhood, school and self) and three aspects of mental health problems (depression, anxiety and stress) among adolescents. An online survey was administered to a sample of 121 adolescents aged 16 to 19 in a Swedish town. The results showed a relatively high degree of life satisfaction in all aspects among both girls and boys with significantly higher values for boys in the aspect “self”. Although a majority of the adolescents in the sample did not report severe levels of depression, anxiety or stress, girls reported significantly higher levels of depression, anxiety and stress compared to boys. The results also showed moderate to strong negative correlations between the different aspects of life satisfaction and mental health problems among girls but for boys the correlations were weak to moderate and in several aspects not significant. This study indicates differences between girls and boys regarding how adolescents experience different aspects of life satisfaction and mental health problems.
