Sammanfattning: The aim of this study was to analyze how the social problems underlying the care of boys and girls are described in judgments according to 3 § LVU (Care of Young Persons Special Provisions Act) from Judith Butlers gender perspective. Therefore I have studying totally 40 cases of 3 § LVU to see if there are any similarities and differences in how each genders social problems is described by social welfare board and the court. The questions in this study are based on the three procedural requirements in 3 § LVU, these three are abuse of drugs, criminal activity and other socially degrading behavior. The method selection is a qualitative content analysis. This method focuses on examining how the phenomenon is expressed in text and since I am looking to analyze how each gender is described in documents in the form of judgments, the method is appropriate. The analysis is divided according to the three procedural requirements in 3 § LVU. The analysis has shown that there are patterns in how each gender is described in relation to various social problems, which in turn creates norms for when boys and girls are relevant to LVU. Among other things, it has been discovered that the conditions for care due to abuse differ in such a way that there is a difference in ensuring the abuse between boys and girls. The difference shows that you do not trust the boys in the same way you do the girls. In addition, this also makes a difference in how detailed descriptions are, which results in the more seriously taking of girls mental illness. Therefore, social workers should reflect on what conditions they describe their clients, but they should also try to utilize their professional skills in getting to know every client and avoiding being affected too much by the standards that exist around each gender.
