Vuxna maskrosbarns livsberättelser : En narrativ analys av fyra livsberättelser om uppväxten med missbrukande föräldrar

Detta är en Kandidat-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Socialhögskolan

Sammanfattning: This study aims to examine the experiences of adult children to parents with drug and/or alcohol addiction, and how they narrate how this affected their childhood, and adult life. The method used was a narrative analysis of four life stories, taken from four podcast episodes. The empirical data was structured into themes found in the life stories. The themes that were found in the life stories were themes of a chaotic family life that had a lasting impact on their adult life, increased responsibilities for themselves, their parents and siblings, feelings of invisibility and abandonment by adults, but also turning points in their adult life that pointed them towards a better life. Here, certain actors were found to be particularly important.

This study also brought attention to the fact that we as welfare officials – but also individuals – have a responsibility to identify and see these children, and take actions in order to secure their safety. These children also need information of how children with a parent with drug and/or alcohol abuse are affected so that this does not have to be a realization later in their adult life when serious problems already have been caused by their upbringing.
