Kommunal miljökommunikation - En nyckel till framgång

Detta är en Master-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Miljövetenskaplig utbildning

Sammanfattning: Environmental communication is essential for success in the efforts to prevent or adapt to climate change. This is important at all levels but municipalities often seem to fail at this task. Therefore the aim of this study is to find out what good environmental communication means, what factors affects the quality and whether it is the municipalities or the residents that are lacking in commitment. The method is a case study of two Swedish municipalities, Klippan and Höör. Information was collected mainly through documents that can be found on Klippans and Höörs websites but also by analyzing their Facebook pages. This was then analyzed by comparing it to peer reviewed articles and a book written by Lars Palm on the science of communication. The chosen method for the analysis is the SWOT analysis which stands for Strength, Weakness, Opportunities and Threats. The results show that the municipals have strategies and are making adaptations to climate changes as well as trying to decrease their ecological footprint but they both forget to communicate with the residents and they are both hard to get in touch with. The results further shows that the most important factors in good environmental communication is to create an interest, a dialogue and to conduct follow ups. Finally the results show that the municipalities are the ones who need to be more committed by creating strategies for their environmental communication.
