Det finns flyktingar i Sjöbo: vägen från ett nej till ett ja

Detta är en Kandidat-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Socialhögskolan

Sammanfattning: Sjöbo - countryside in Sweden, became famous for something that isn´t flattering. They made a vote against refugees with residence permit and didn´t change their minds for more than 12 years. Since the year 2000 they have recieved refugees. This is an explorative study where we have chosen to interview four local politicians and two clerks from Sjöbo community. We looked at the change from a no to a yes. We found many reasons. The main reason was that the politicians where eager to do what they thought was “the right thing”. We also wanted to see why they resisted to welcome refugees in the first place. Many speculacions were made from varying sources in the literature, everything from racism to protect the neighbourhood. After the decision was made and the receving of the refugees started. We found that the hospitality in Sjöbo was very much impoved. The community had set up a goal to do this right and were looking in to different possibilities to be able to do so. Concideering the goverments regulationes Sjöbo seemes to be succeding with their task. In the analyses of the results we have mainly used Rothsteins theori about legitimacy in democracy, also called the conditional consent by M Levi.
