Vilka lider mest av psykisk ohälsa? : En kvantitativ studie om psykisk ohälsa bland unga vuxna i Italien och Sverige

A quantitative study about mental health among young adults in Italy and Sweden Supervisor: Anna Tegunimataka Assessor: Anders Östnäs The aim of this study was to compare mental health among Sweden’s and Italy’s young adults by using three variables which were then correlated with the variable “mental health”. The three variables I used were; “Family and social relations”, “Religion and Tradition” and “Socio-economic factors”. To conduct the research I used the database European Social Survey to obtain data from Italy as well as Sweden. SPSS was used to manage the data and thereby calculate the bivariate correlations to sustain the correlation coefficient and significance level. I could then recognize whether or not there were correlations between mental health and the three variables. I found that the young adults in Sweden relied more on their socio-economic well-being to have good mental health, while the Italian respondents had a greater relationship between high scores in “Religion and Tradition” and low scores in mental health. The results also showed that both the Swedish and Italian young adults had less mental health issues if they lived a family- and social-centred life.
