Är Turkiet en revisionistisk stat?

Detta är en Kandidat-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Statsvetenskapliga institutionen

Sammanfattning: Revisionism is a widespread phenomenon in international relations – it questions why and how states grow dissatisfied with the international order and seek to pursue their broader interests. Since Adalet ve Kalknma Partisi (AKP) took power in 2002, Türkiye has gained significant self-confidence. Building upon that notion, questions concerning Türkiye’s revisionist tendencies have been raised. On the other hand, few studies have examined whether Türkiye can be labeled a revisionist state, by adopting a theoretical concept. This case study aims to understand the Foreign Policy during the rule of AKP to determine if Türkiye is a revisionist state. By adopting a realist, liberal and constructivist approach, this thesis will examine AKP:s Foreign Policy and explain the origins of its revisionism. Throughout this thesis, it becomes apparent that Türkiye can be seen as a “selective revisionist”. Although Türkiye defends the existing liberal international order to some extent, the study demonstrates that Türkiye aims to alter the regional and international order, but not necessarily overthrow them. Türkiye’s revisionism appears to reflect its desire to retake a leadership position in international affairs based on its sentimental relationship to the Ottoman Empire's golden age and suggestions for a more "just" international order.
