Sammanfattning: Solvalla School & Preschool In the beginning of the project, we worked for a week with the concepts of security and challenge in relation to the school environment. We were asked to do a sketch model of our thoughts and I chose to continue working with it. One way to look upon the word safety is the possibility to get a view of the surroundings and to create an understanding of the situation you are in. In my school building there is a visual contact through window openings between the common rooms with both the grade above and the one below. This way the children can get a better understanding of their education, where you have been and where to go. Also you can develop some kind of contact with children in other grades. By working with terracing in the opposite direction of the terrain, displacements are created between the floors that make the window contact between the grades a little bit less intrusive. The terracing also provides space for a sports hall, staff and a canteen below the highest annual grades. The displacement of floors also enables windows with daylight to the common rooms, even though they are located in the center of the building. The preschool building works as a reflection of the primary school building, but in a smaller scale. The program is distributed in the exact same way with the oldest children at the top of the terracing and the youngest in the lowest parts. Canteen, staff areas and other common spaces are placed under the highest part of the preschool. The highest parts of my school buildings relates to its surroundings by meeting the highest parts of the new housing in Solvalla with its multi-storey houses. The lowest part connects with the forest and nature. Johanna Lundqvist
