Sammanfattning: “I'm not a piña colada, sun vacation-fisherman” - A study of fishing tourists' attitudes and perceptions of the management of Byskeälven, Västerbotten Recreational fishing and fishing tourism are seen as a potential for rural development. Today's Swedish waters are mostly so-called individual waters that are managed by fishing right holders, often through common fishing conservation areas. These fishing conservation areas can consist of a large number of fishing right holders with potentially different interests, which can result in conflicts of interest. There is today a prevailing need for increased knowledge about the demand of fishing tourists, as well as how their behavior changes and is affected by various policy instruments and management. An increased understanding of fishing tourists' perceptions and preferences can lead to better management. This study aims to examine fishing tourists' attitudes and perceptions about fishery management of Byskeälven, Västerbotten. The purpose was also to highlight the importance of fishing management from the visitor perspective. The collection of data was done through interviews. The material was later analyzed using thematic analysis. Results show the importance of a righteous management for experience of the area’s attractiveness seen from the visitor perspective. Based on the example of the management of Byskeälven Fiskevårdsområde Västerbotten where the organization has been affected by conflict shows that visitor perceptions and experiences of the area can be affected negatively.
