Det är inte målet, det är vägen: en kritisk diskursanalys om Sveriges integration av asylsökande och nyanlända
Sammanfattning: This thesis consists of a critical discourse analysis regarding the integration of asylum seekers and individuals with a residence permit in Sweden. Its analysis is divided into two parts; the first part focuses on how four Swedish authorities work together to integrate these individuals in Sweden. The second part of the analysis emphases the participation of the Swedish Red Cross in the integration projects through its language training where I have interviewed employees and volunteers for the non-governmental organization. I highlight what opportunities the activity is alleged to construct for the participants and whether there is a need of other aspects for these individuals to be included in the Swedish society. With a theoretical perspective from Sara Ahmed, Didier Bigo, Nirmal Puwar et al. this thesis has led to the conclusion where migration is perceived as a threat to nations. The Swedish nation's integration of this social group can be seen as a form of solution to the perception of danger. Furthermore, I come to the conclusion that there is an opinion among the Swedish Red Cross volunteers regarding how social and cultural forms of integration are needed to prevent asylum seekers and individuals with residence permit from passing as strangers in Western contexts.
