Klas Anshelms utställningsrum - En arkitekturteoretisk analys av Malmö konsthall

Detta är en Kandidat-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för konsthistoria och visuella studier

Sammanfattning: My thesis focuses on the Lund-based architect Klas Anshelm’s two exhibition spaces. In an introductory formal analysis, his first exhibition space, Lunds konsthall, built in 1956, is compared with the latter Malmö konsthall from 1975. Using this formal analysis, I apply theoretical discussions on the material using Beatriz Colominas writings on Adolf Loos and Le Corbusier in Privacy and Publicity, Peter Jones and Gillian Roses’ theories of surveillance in museum environments and Ipek Kaynars studies of movements in museum spaces. This is followed by a discussion of Anshelm relation to the architecture style, brutalism, with a historical introduction to the genre and a comparative study of Malmö konsthall and Alison and Peter Smithson's school in Hunstanton, UK. The thesis concludes with a discussion of the use of light in Anshelms architecture and the characteristics of the light in Malmö konsthall.
