Detta är en Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå från Lunds universitet/Institutionen för psykologi

Sammanfattning: The purpose of this paper was to examine how five persons who identify themselves as porn addicts view their addiction in terms of how the addiction have come about, what affective experiences they associate with the addiction, how it affects their relations to others, what makes them continue using pornography, what forms the addiction takes and how they live with their addiction today. Based on theory about pornography and addiction and how they interact, a study with semi-structured interviews was made. The results show that the participants have experienced severe suffering in many areas of life. The participants describe growing up in insecure environments, how they have been drawn to pornography early in life, how the addiction is strongly associated with the affect shame and how the addiction has had negative effects on their relations to others. The pornography has had an anxiolytic effect and has been an escape from everyday life. The participants describe how the addiction gradually has taken more of their time and how the pornography they view has become more explicit over time. The participants describe feelings of ambivalence about trying to quit using pornography. As of today the participants have all entered treatment for their addiction.
