Kvinnligt och manligt i missbrukarbehandling

Detta är en Kandidat-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Socialhögskolan

Sammanfattning: The aim of this study was to describe and analyze the view on gender in drug treatment and how it manifests in the treatment. We have made a qualitative study with interviews. We have done interviews at different treatment centres, with a social worker and two scientists. In our interviews we focused on choice of treatment and gender. Our key questions were: · What do previous studies show about male and female drug abusers and their treatment? · Are there any gender specific needs in drug treatment? · Are there any advantages or disadvantages of single sex and mixed treatments? We made a vignette study, which means that we based the interviews on two cases and asked questions about them. That gave us an opportunity to break through the rhetoric and see how the professionals think in each case. There is a discrepancy between what they say they would do and what they really do. In general they think the sex does matter in drug treatment, but when it comes to specific cases, the drug treatment model is more important. We found this discovery very interesting and also alarming.
