Sammanfattning: This study is based on preschool teachers' descriptions of shy children's influence in preschool activities. The purpose of the study is to investigate what influence shy children have in preschool, from the preschool teacher's perspective. Based on the purpose, the following questions were formulated: ● How is the influence of shy children expressed in preschool teachers' descriptions? ● How are shy children's communication expressed in preschool teachers' descriptions? Influence is a current subject within preschool and is more often described when children express their views verbally. However, shy children are described to communicate more non-verbal and that contrast can become a dilemma. In order to investigate how preschool teachers describe the influence of shy children, interviews have been conducted with four preschool teachers. The theoretical framework for the study is Nel Nodding's theory of care. The results in the study show that preschool teachers describe that shy children mainly use non-verbal communication and usually do not take their own initiative for influence. Preschool teachers try to get shy children to talk more and increase shy children's influence in preschool in different ways. The conclusion is that preschool teachers have an understanding that there is a balance between children being allowed to be shy and influence on their own conditions, while at the same time daring and being challenged in having influence.
