Sammanfattning: This paper presents a qualitative study with semi-structured interviews investigating 1) How teachers in the course social science 1b interpret the terms "översiktligt" and "utförligt och nyanserat", when assessing students’ written productions. 2) How the terms are described by Skolverket’s commentary material and assessment support, and if the descriptions differ from the teacher’s interpretations? And 3) What kind of resources do the teachers use in order to work with assessment. The reason for conducting this research is to understand how teachers with experiences of teaching, interpret them in order to understand how they communicate them to their students. My finding revealed that the teachers’ interpretation of the term "översiktligt" differs mostly from each other and Skolverket’s commentary material. When the teachers discuss the term "utförligt och nyanserat" they bring in other aspects, and some teachers did not address the terms clearly. This could be applied to all the teachers except L4, L5 and L6. From the answers the teachers provided me with, they seem to interpret the terms in some cases differently which could be a validity, reliability and equality in assessment issue when assessing students’ text.
