"Vi har inte tid att berätta, vi måste bygga" : Barns samarbetsstrategier och konstruktionssamtal i förskolan
Sammanfattning: The purpose of this study is to bring more knowledge as to how five-year-olds are collaborating in a construction activity in preschool. The purpose is also to bring light to how the children are communicating with each other regarding the constructions. The method which we applied to this study was participant observation. In this study a construction activity was conducted including twelve children at the age of five. The children were instructed to work in groups of three with the objective to construct a space rocket. The study is based on a sociocultural perspective where the concepts mental tools, the Zone of proximal development and mediation were selected in order to create a deeper understanding of the children's conversations and interactions. The results of the study show that the children use the following collaborative strategies in order to keep the construction moving forward: asking questions, following each other, confirming each other, giving suggestions, justifying their actions through conversation and changing their standpoint. When the children in this study were using a collaborative strategy, this was always in conjunction with a following strategy. This suggests that a collaborative strategy should not be seen as an isolated action. In their conversations the children were discussing the fundamentals and function of the construction among other more fantasy-related topics. In these conversations the children did not separate function and construction. It was also evident that it was important for the children to describe their on-going construction in a playful context.
