La rhéthorique officielle pendant Covid -19. Une analyse comparative des discours politiques en France et en Suède lors du déclenchement de la pandémie

Detta är en Kandidat-uppsats från Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för språk och litteraturer

Sammanfattning: The purpose of this thesis is to carry out a comparative analysis of the two speeches made during the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic by the French President Emmanuel Macron and the Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven in order to identify their differences and try to understand their connection to the political events that followed. In France, the lockdown started but in Sweden the plan was to maintain as much freedom as possible to the citizens. The two speeches were studied through well-established discourse analysis tools such as ethos, discursive aims and enunciative operating procedures. In Macron’s speech the importance of a leadership ethos was brought into light and in Löfven’s speech, an ethos of humanity. Macron doesn’t hesitate to frighten in order to instill respect for the rules imposed, while Löfven rather avoid the subject of the nature of the coronavirus in order to reassure and calm the population and encourage it to keep on living a life as normal as possible under the more restricted circumstances. In summary, several links were identified between the content of the two speeches and the strategies chosen by each country.
