Sammanfattning: To facilitate home gardening this project enables automatedhydroponic gardening on a small scale. Hydroponic meansthat the growth medium is water instead of soil, whichsimplifies the measuring and control of the plant holder.Hydroponics is water efficient and therefore more environmentallyfriendly. The objective of this thesis is to develop a minimizedconstruction capable of fitting in a compact home, requiringminimal effort from the user to sustain the plant. Theproject focuses on three determining factors for hydroponics;light, pH level, and nutrition. By measuring the lightintensity, the lamp can be switched on only when necessarywhich minimizes energy consumption. The system is controlled by a micro controller and withmultiple sensors the pH level, nutrient content, water temperature, and light intensity of the system can be measured. These are then used to regulate the actuators of the system:lamp, dosage pump for pH buffer, and nutrient solution. Results show that the system is stable and can be selfregulatedin the desired range for nutrition concentrationand pH level during a substantial time period.
