"Vem vill lyssna på det här?": En studie om hur altruism påverkar musikskapande

Sammanfattning: The study aims to investigate what differences and challenges altruists and non altruists face when they write music, and to be able to catch students with different personality traits to help them with their songwriting in school. This study is previous studies in this area and qualitative interviews with ten musicians who all write their own music. Six of these ten are altruists and four are non-altruists, they are of different ages and mixed gender. The results of the study show that there is a clear pattern that altruists face a bigger struggle then non altruistic people when it comes to songwriting. The problems for the altruist are based on a fear in facing critics and a fear that the result won’t be good enough. This is something that the non-altruists don’t face because they don’t find the same demands from others. On the contrary, they tend to see songwriting as something for their own enjoyment.
