Det integrationspolitiska dilemmat : En fallstudie av lokala variationer inom den svenska integrationspolitiken

Detta är en Master-uppsats från Linnéuniversitetet/Institutionen för statsvetenskap (ST)

Sammanfattning: With its peak in 2015, Sweden has seen a wave of asylum seekers entering the country. This upsurge of newly arrived citizens has put a lot of stress on the Swedish Municipalities, which are utterly responsible for the integration process. A problem is that the possibility for a newly arrived citizen to become integrated in the Swedish society varies depending on in which Municipality he or she is placed. The aim of this study is to find differences and causal factors that affect the irregularities in the results of integration policies among Swedish Municipalities. The study takes the form of a case study examining deviant cases for the purpose of filling knowledge gaps in the area of integration policies on the local level with an ambition of theory development. For this purpose, a model of analysis has been created from three relevant theories which together with four hypotheses are tested with the material. The results show that socioeconomic factors as well as the difference in newly arrived citizens have contributed to the variation of the integration policy, and that economic, socioeconomic and the labor market circumstances are important factors affecting the possibilities of conducting a successful integration policy.
