Detta är en Kandidat-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Miljövetenskaplig utbildning

Sammanfattning: Lund's Climate Alliance was initiated 2010 by the municipality of Lund, in southern Sweden, to support local climate adaptation and mitigation efforts. The purpose of this paper is to investigate what each member of Lund's Climate Alliance believes will be necessary to realize sustainability goals particular to their organization in the future. The study thereby points to new topics, activities, and concepts that can help the Climate Alliance better support members to achieve sustainability aims. On a wider scale, the study highlights the knowledge deficit experienced by local businesses in relation to sustainability transition pathways in their sectors. For the members of Lund's Climate Alliance to address the issues that result from sustainability driven efforts, clear communication regarding long-term goals and processes is crucial. This study was conducted with a survey in November 2021, answered by 12 of the 26 members of Lund's Climate Alliance. Survey questions aimed to shed light on the members’ conditions and needs to engage in sustainability transition, as well as their experience and expectations from the Climate Alliance. The members who contributed to this study work within a wide spectrum of industries, including production, facilities, energy, the public sector, non-profit organizations, IT, and research and development. Results suggest that the members of Lund's Climate Alliance who contributed to the study experienced a positive effect from their position as a member of the organization. The results indicate that the most positive effect was to be a part of a communicating network which is made of the members within the organization. They also show that in order to develop better communication within the network the members desire to work with more engaging activities and including projects. Furthermore, some members would like to be more educated within sustainability issues and one member suggested a theme-like concept which would create deeper discussions and conclusions regarding the issues and solutions of sustainability within their companies. Survey respondents believe that market and regulatory changes will necessitate adjustment in their sectors within the near future, but planning was difficult due to uncertainty concerning timelines and concrete implications for their sector. In conclusion, Lund's Climate Alliance could help their members to become more sustainable by more focus in the meetings and selecting topics that address the knowledge deficit of the industries within the organization to become sustainable.
