Etnicitet, rasism och ras enligt läroböckerna : En inramningsteoretisk innehållsanalys om hur etnicitet, rasism och ras teoretiseras i läroböcker för sociologi på gymnasieskolan

Sammanfattning: The purpose of this study is to investigate which theoretical understandings ofethnicity, racism and race are expressed in textbooks that deal with ethnicityand are aimed at teaching sociology at upper secondary school. The study is aqualitative content analysis based on frame theory. The starting point for thestudy can be found in previous research on the challenges for sociology toallow itself to be introduced in a uniform way. Based on this, the investigationintends to examine which theoretical understandings of the phenomena ofethnicity, racism and race appear in the textbooks. The textbooks are analyzedusing frame theory, where prominent theoretical perspectives within the fieldare put in the foreground.  Framing of questions: • How are ethnicity, racism and race theorized in textbooks aimed atteaching sociology at upper secondary school? • How does the understanding conveyed in the textbooks relate toexisting sociological theories about the phenomena of ethnicity, racismand race? • What possible consequences follow the attempts to create a uniformtheoretical understanding of the subject of sociology throughtextbooks? The conclusions of the study are that the textbooks' framing of ethnicity,racism and race uniformly places these phenomena within a liberal theoreticalresearch tradition. The study´s results show what previous research hasannounced as a risk in trying to identify a core within sociology. A risk in that certain sociological research is rewarded before other with possiblehegemonizing effects as a result.
