Att sätta ord på omsorg: En kvalitativ observationsstudie av omsorgsarbetet på ett särskilt boende för äldre

Sammanfattning: The aim of this study was to discover how caregivers in a caring home for elderly people work with the social and emotional part of the caregiving. To discover this, the study was based on 4 days of participating observations that took place on a caring home for elderly people in Sweden. The observations were focused on every staff in the caring home, but mostly on the caregivers. Throughout the study, questions were asked to the caregivers along with the observations. The findings of the study seemed to be many different things, among others the fact that a good relationship between the caregiver and caretaker is necessary for a good care. The study also showed that there is a lot of caring and thought in small actions. Things that might be hard to reflect on by yourself can appear very significant when someone detached observes it. The analysis was based on different theories about caring, focused on the relationship between caregivers and caretakers, and on the caregiving work itself.
