Sammanfattning: Background: Occupational therapists can work in many different fields and one such field is occupational health care. Few occupational therapists however, work in the occupational health care and the amount of studies regarding their experiences of the field is very limited. Aim: The aim of this study is to describe occupational therapists’ experiences of working in occupational health care. Method: Eight written semi-structured interviews were conducted through email, and the interviews were analyzed using manifest content analysis. Results: The content analysis led to four main categories: Occupational therapists’ knowledge and skills in occupational health care, Work methods, Challenges in work and Meaningful aspects of the work. The main results showed that the participants thought their professional competence provided a unique perspective to the occupational health care. They considered the work to be rewarding, but also challenging. Conclusion: Occupational therapists can provide a unique competence to the occupational health care, but the knowledge about occupational therapy in this field is limited. To determine the effects of occupational therapy in occupational health care the authors recommend randomized controlled studies.
