Sammanfattning: Aim The aim of the paper is to seek understanding of the factors affecting the work environment for the pre-school teachers. Pre-school teachers are exposed to levels of high noise on a daily basis. Individuals who work in such an environment often experience stress, fatigue and sound fatigue.   Method Based on the interviews, four themes were identified describing pre-school teachers experience of the working environment: ergonomics, environment, motivation and requirements. Based on the above themes, codes have been created to clarify the factors that affect the working environment. A qualitative method was used since the aim was to seek understanding of a specific group. The pre-schools that were chosen to participate in this study were located in Stockholm, Sweden. A total of six pre-school teachers in the ages 24-64 years were interviewed. The participants had an average of 14 years working within the pre-school. The interviews were based on a semi-structured interview guide.   Results This study indicates that what preschool teachers perceive as good and less good in the work environment is individual and depends, among other things, on previous experiences. The results in this study show that pre-school teachers especially want to prioritize the children but that there are requirements which prevent this. The requirements identified in this study are administration, ergonomics, teacher and resource shortages and large children's groups. These findings contributed to a sense of insufficiency for the pre-school teachers.   Conclusion The large children's groups are the main thing that affect pre-school teachers working environment negatively. However, this study also indicates that children's development is a joint motivator for continued work within the pre-school. This is something that creates meaningfulness, which is important for feeling motivated in the everyday work.
