Utan namn är sjukdomen hemlös - En diskursanalys om framställan av symtomdiagnoser i rättsliga dokument

Detta är en Kandidat-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Socialhögskolan

Sammanfattning: The aim of the study was to examine how symptom diagnosis are depicted and defined in different legal documents through a social constructionism point of view, with the help of a discourse analysis. The study also examined the standards that can be created with regards to symptom diagnosis and illustrates the different values that can contribute or counteract the creating of stigma. We will also relate symptom diagnosis to the standard-setting of illness. The study examined nine preliminary works; three propositions and six Official Reports from the Swedish government. We’ve used quotes, words and expressions in order to illustrate how the Swedish government depicts symptom diagnosis. The quotes were then codified into different themes such as responsibility, stigma, comparisons, individual, economy, presentation and the standard-setting of illness. The result of the study was that we found that the symptom diagnosis is very hard to define and treat. We also found that the government depicts the notion of the illness as wide, diffused, versatile, ambiguous and unclear. To depict the illness and the people with this illness this way creates alienation and stigma.
