Sammanfattning: This study aims to investigate changes in mental health of a group of male refugees. The estimates are done before and after initial stabilization treatment, performed at the Red Cross treatment center for war wounded and tortured in Malmö. Validated and well-known self-assessment tool for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression and anxiety have been used. The estimates are made on three occasions: the first estimate before starting treatment, the second one immediately after the end of treatment, and the third estimate; the follow-up, six months after the second one. Eight patients took part in this study; all male refugees from Iraq. The study's overall performance is that almost no significant differences in the psychological health could be discovered. Minor changes are visible, though. For example, the patients estimates during the nine-month period improved in terms of PTSD as total. The results for depression and anxiety shows only small differences. Both values improved during treatment, but at the time for the follow-up survey they both dropped slightly again.
