Hur presterar Allsvenska klubbar på YYIR2-testet i jämförelse med internationella elitklubbar? : The Yo-Yo Intermittent Recovery Test Level 2

Sammanfattning: Purpose and question The purpose of this study is to compare YYIR2-test results between the top Swedish men's league “Allsvenskan” with international elite clubs. YYIR2 presents the players ability to perform intense intermittent training with a large anaerobic component combined with a significant aerobic contribution via YYIR2. Elite club is defined as a men's football team that plays in the country's highest league. The question is: Do Swedish elite football clubs results differ from international elite clubs regarding the football-specific performance test YYIR2?  Method This is a quantitative study where data collection is used on Swedish elite clubs. This was done by contacting all sixteen Swedish clubs from Allsvenskan; four clubs shared their data. This data is compared with a systematic review by Schmitz et. al (2018), which contains reference values from the YYIR2-test from various elite clubs around the world. A one-sample t-test is used, a statistical hypothesis test to determine whether an unknown population mean is different from a specific value. The values from the t-test are then used to produce a p-value (≤ 0.05). To see if there is a significant difference between Allsvenskan and international elite clubs. Results Data from 76 players from Allsvenskan against 239 players from "The Yo-Yo Intermittent Tests: A Systematic Review and Structured Compendium of Test Results" (Schmitz, 2018). A one-sample t-test was performed and gave a p-value of 0.357, the difference was not considered significant. Allsvenskan mean value, a total of 76 players: 1021 ±249 meters. International elite clubs mean value, a total of two hundred and thirty-nine players: 1047 ±322 meters. From “The Yo-Yo Intermittent Tests: A Systematic Review and Structured Compendium of Test Results”. Conclusion YYIR2 reference value has been created for Allsvenskan. The difference was not significant and there is no noticeable difference between Allsvenskan and international elite clubs. This is the first comparison for the YYIR2-test between Allsvenskan and international elite clubs. The new reference value (Allsvenskan) can now be used for further research or in everyday work for various teams who use physical tests.
