Sammanfattning: The purpose of this research is to highlight the goals, concerning democratic ability, found in the fundamental value system written in the curriculum of the Swedish school, based on concepts of moral and democracy. Furthermore I want to examine what the concept ”demokratisk förmåga” indicates to teachers, and also exemplify how it is used in teachers´everyday life. This essay will inquire different kinds of democratic theories as they are presented by Bo Lindensjö and Kerstin Jacobsson, hoping to be able to identify the model that corresponds to the experiences teachers convey. In this way I hope to be able to conclude which model of democracy answer to the challenges our society faces today.
