Sammanfattning: Most people would agree that social media has influenced modern society. There are indications that the employment relationship is also affected by social media. This essay's purpose is to examine the connection between social media and the employment relationship, which especially concerns employee's freedom of speech in social media. Another objective of the paper is to present a comparison between the public and private sectors regarding employee's limits and rights to express themselves in social media. The paper's research questions concern the subjects of the right to criticize employers in social media, and the significance of judgment and values in the employment relationship through social media.The paper presents the existing case-law regarding employees' freedom of speech in social media. The essay concludes that public employees maintain more freedom of speech than private employees. First and foremost since freedom of speech is superior to the duty of loyalty as ajudicial principle in the public sector, and vice versa. The paper also concludes that employers in the public sector have to tolerate more than employers in the private sector in regards to their employees expressing themselves in social media.
