Yes we can - stop keystone pipeline

Detta är en Kandidat-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Statsvetenskapliga institutionen

Sammanfattning: The aim of this thesis is to gather an understanding of the creation of unlikely alliances within the environmental movement as a social movement. This is done in turn done by looking at the resistance among the environmental movement as well as grassroots organizations that arose around the proposal to build a pipeline called Keystone XL made by the Canadian oil company TransCanada in 2008. The five year long political struggle among the environmental movement that started getting the media’s attention in 2010 and resulted in the Obama administrations rejection of the project in 2015 is the focus of this thesis. By using Maarten. A Hajers argumentative discourse theory I have in this thesis gathered an understand for how the environmental movement through the usage of language positioned themselves against the project as well as kept the resistance going for five years.
