Sammanfattning: In the thesis, the author argues what signs in music are used in the classical music field, the problems some of them have, and how to improve them. The thesis also involves creating and trying out new signs, followed by an evaluation if they are worth incorporating in musical practice or not. The main focus has been what musicians write in to the music and not instructions from the composer’s pen. The working process included searching in literature; gathering of accumulated knowledge from and recent conversations with colleagues, teachers, fellow students and former coaches on courses; and trial and error practice. The author has come up with some new signs through brainstorming. Already existing signs are questioned and assigned to a clear purpose. Lastly, the new signs are tried out, and then put through evaluation if they make any difference or not.
