Detta är en Master-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för ABM, digitala kulturer samt förlags- och bokmarknadskunskap

Sammanfattning: This master's theises aims to investigate information practice and information literacy in the context of manga and anime leisure activities amongst adolescents. The context of manga and anime is interpreted using the theory of serious leisure. Information literacy is interpreted as given by the empirical field's social and medial context. It stems from Annemaree Lloyd's conceptualization of an information landscape in which an information literate person is able to participate and navigate. The context of manga and anime does not revolve around problem solving, rather it is seen as part of an ongoing everyday information practice. The study was conducted through an ethnographic field study using participant observations, focus group interviews and qualitative interviews with persons, all active members of the same manga and anime society, between 15 and 20 years old. The thesis concludes that the participants have a rich and well developed information literacy within their field of manga and anime. This well developed literacy is not a goal in itself, but an important mean to be a part of the social community in the society. Moreover, their information practices used in the information landscape expands into and influence their everyday information practices in general.
