Den svenska modellen under hot

Detta är en Kandidat-uppsats från Lunds universitet/Statsvetenskapliga institutionen

Sammanfattning: During 2015 and 2016 Sweden received more immigrants than usual and the debate on who is a citizen, and what it means to be one, grew popular. Part of the debate was about how the Swedish model and the Swedish welfare state would survive. In many cases the immigrants was seen as a threat towards institutions which play a part in the Swedish perception of what the societal contract entails. The paper argues that although the rhetoric was about economic or social factors,in fact it might have great consequences to the Swedish security situation as extremist actors might play on the growing perceived threat of immigrants, and successfully securitize the issue. This might increase the mobilization of radical groups and put strain on the internal peace of Sweden. The paper concludes there is an issue with this but proposes further quantitative studies to determine to which extent there is one.
