Sammanfattning: This study scrutinizes the underlying factors of honor-related violence (HRV) and examines how women break away from honor-related violence. Four autobiographical stories written by vulnerable women who have been victims to honor-related violence have been analyzed. A qualitative narrative method has been used as an analysis method. The results of this study shows that factors such as honornorms, culture, shame, guilt, control and surveillance cause the rise of honor-related violence. The honor of the family is related to women’s social and sexual behavior and are therefore seen as the preservers of the family’s honor. Women who violate the honornorms are punished and abused by the male family members.
